The remodel of this 4-story hotel required a complete seismic retrofit. New plywood shearwalls with self-tensioning anchor tie-downs were utilized in the upper three wood-framed stories. The existing 2nd floor concrete podium deck was strengthened to accommodate lateral forces from the shearwalls and tie-downs, and to transfer lateral loads into the ground floor CMU shearwalls.
