Engineering of the sloped ceiling structure in this theatre / concert hall provided us with unique geometric and logistical challenges. We were hired to provide structural and seismic supports for the acoustic clouds--irregularly shaped, convex wood acoustical baffles--which were to be suspended from the underside of the sloped ceiling. A 3-D modeling effort and regular communication with the contractor were required to effectively coordinate the installation of the supports and seismic bracing to avoid existing utilities, duct work, and lighting.
