Project Type: Solar PV & Solar Thermal Contractor: California Solar Integrators
The roof of this 42-story luxury apartment tower in the Rincon Hill neighborhood of San Francisco is covered with an evacuated tube solar thermal collection system. We designed the elevated tube-steel support grid for the solar collectors, and provided seismic anchorage details for the 50,000-pound roof-mounted water storage tank. Since the sloping roof plane allows the collectors to be visible throughout the city, the choice of solar collector was based on aesthetics in addition to energy performance.
